Job Description
Join our team to help improve lives and create a safer Utah. The Caseworker II position is an entry level caseworker position. College level education and experience working with substance use disorders are not required but will be emphasized in hiring. CW IIs on our team provide evidence based, individualized services to individuals who are supervised by the Utah Department of Corrections.
This is a full time position with state employee benefits. The wage is $24.34 hourly.
CW IIs teach psycho-educational classes, utilize data from substance use and mental health assessments and provide case management services to our clients. You will be an important piece of a multidisciplinary team working to improve the lives of our clients, reduce their criminogenic risk factors, and increase their abilities to manage mental illness and remain drug free. This position is in a community treatment center.
Examples of Duties
Provides psycho-educational classes.
Coordinates efforts to find appropriate community resources and services
Provides case management services directly with clients
Engages in quality written and verbal communication with clients, the treatment team, community partners, and security personnel
Maintains accurate documentation of all services provided
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing services to clients with mental health disorders
Experience providing services to justice involved individuals
Effective teaching skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of substance use assessments
Knowledge of criminogenic risk factors and assessments

This job may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series.
Caseworker I
Salary Range: $18.31 - $27.47
Caseworker II
Salary Range: $20.38 - $30.64 Note: At this level, the best qualified individuals will have obtained certification as a Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor or licensure as a Social Service Worker. - Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g., being subject to possible physical attack. Institutional/Correctional surroundings and hazards, including being subject to possible physical attack. Safety and risk issues inherent while working within a correctional facility with an offender population are presumed.
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
- May be required to provide 24 hour on call services. Policy requires employee to provide on-call services to respond to situations which may occur during non-duty hours.
