The Utah Department of Corrections is seeking individuals for a Non-Certified Correctional Control Point Operator position at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake, UT. Job Description: 1. Maintains security and surveillance over institutional access, egress, program activities, and other activities.2. Monitors schedules3. Monitors and controls access of staff, visitors and inmates through the use of video monitors, audio communications and operation of electronic doors.4. Assure compliance with overall facility security procedures in an electronic control center, including security equipment and override systems.5. Adherence to safety and security guidelines, policies and practices while working in and around a correctional institution environment.Job Duties/Task: 1) Coordinates activities with institutional needs and enforces security regulations on property.2) Maintains accurate records and logs.3) Provides immediate response by notifying officers through radio transmission when there has been a critical incident. Helps coordinate resolution by answering phones, relaying information to officers and ensuring resources are being sent to appropriate places.4) Monitors the movement and activities of inmates as well as visitors entering and leaving the facility including law enforcement and other agency personnel, visitors, and the general public.5) Work with the WebTrack system. NOTE: This job is NOT public safety certified, and does not require peace officer status or certification. This position will require a successful criminal background check. DHRM rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current state of Utah employees.Must be able to pass thorough criminal background check.Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations.Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.Work requires some physical exertion. May require the ability to stand, walk up stairs, walk over smooth surfaces, bend, crouch, reach, or lift light items in a recurring manner or for long periods of time.If hired, incumbents in this position will be assigned to one of three set shifts: 6 AM - 2 PM, 2 PM - 10 PM, or 10 PM - 6 AM. Appointment to a desired shift cannot be guaranteed.
