Laboratory Technician III
Are you experienced in sample receiving within a laboratory setting? Are you looking to kickstart your career in public health? The Utah Public Health Laboratory is looking for a detail-oriented, organized individual to fill their open role of Laboratory Technician III.
Responsibilities:
- Sample receiving and return for the Forensic Toxicology Program
- Cleaning of glassware
- Performing alcohol analysis
- Performing drugs of abuse and prescription screenings
- Performing screenings and confirmations on chemistry analysis
- Completing GRAMA requests
- Filing data and maintaining the records room
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- Must have experience working in a laboratory environment
- Due to the nature and types of testing samples this position requires compliance with the Utah Department of Health & Human Services Employee Immunization policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, completed or near completion, in science with an emphasis in Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry OR equivalent experience in a related field
- Experience using chemistry analyzers, immunoassay based instrumentation, headspace gas chromatography, and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometers.
- Experience working in a forensic laboratory
Schedule:
This position is currently scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Due to the nature and types of testing samples this position requires compliance with the Utah Department of Health & Human Services Employee Immunization policy. Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc. Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
Salary : $19 - $25
