What are the responsibilities and job description for the Region ROW Design Coordinator - R2 position at State of Utah?
This position is responsible for coordinating Region Right of Way and Design activities for Acquisition and Surplus, coordinating Region Excess/Surplus Property reviews, coordinating Region Surveying Review, and coordinating Right of Way Mapping and GIS activities and archives. The incumbent of this position often works independently with little supervision.
Principal Duties
As the Region ROW Design Coordinator you are responsible for:
- Applying intensive and diversified knowledge of Right of Way design principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Working closely with the Project Managers, Designers, Consultants, and the Right of Way Team throughout all projects in the region to help in the timing of each Right of Way package.
- Reviewing the packages with Region Managers to determine if the packages can be recommended by the Region as excess lands, and send the packages to the Central Right of Way for surplus.
- Coordinating the maintenance of existing and new Right of Way files, maps, documents and correspondence in Department and Region record keeping systems.
- Coordinating Region assistance with the public, other government agencies and other groups within the Department with questions and requests regarding property management, access management, and Right of Way documents.
- Processing survey data and Right of Way drawings to GIS.
- Preparing Right of Way design plans, ownership records, easements and deeds of conveyance for acquisition and surplus of real property.
- Performing title searches and abstracts to identify ownership of property, easements and Right of Way housed in the County Recorder Office and other relevant repositories.
- Maintaining an activity log of packages under review.
- Providing Quality Control/Quality Assurance reviews for Department and Consultant prepared documents and files.
- Working closely with Traffic and Safety group to provide Right of Way plans and information Working closely with Region Maintenance forces to provide Right of Way plans and information.

- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have 5 or more years of Right of Way experience in the State of Utah OR be licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Utah, OR be able obtain licensure within the first 6 months of hire.
- Must have 5 or more years of experience in Right of Way and construction plan reading and review.
- Must have a valid driver's license or be able to obtain one within the first 6 months of hire.
Preference will be given to those who:
- are licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Utah.
- have experience in UDOT Right of Way Design, Bentley Products.
- Understanding of geo-referencing and mapping.
- Understanding of UDOT's transfer and sale of real property
- Understanding of UDOT's Right of Way design process.
- Understanding of UDOT's most current Surveying and Geomatics Standards.
- Understanding of UDOT's Project Delivery System, and the QC/QA process.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing, such as reports, letters, and/or studies.
- Good communication skills as well as the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- The ability to give and take clear verbal or written direction well.
Physical Requirements: Moderate - Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
Moderate Conditions: Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
Salary : $29 - $47
