As a volunteer services coordinator, you will:
- Develop, conduct and evaluate the volunteer services program at the Lee Kay Public Shooting Range.
- Coordinate the schedule for approximately 80 volunteer services staff.
- Coordinate and conduct volunteer staff training.
- Develop partnerships with shooting sports organizations, non-governmental organizations, and wildlife conservation groups.
- Help provide front counter customer service and range safety operations, as needed.
- Help with facility and grounds maintenance and light housekeeping, as needed.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- EITHER:
- Bachelors degree in parks, recreation and tourism, outdoor recreation, or a wildlife-related natural resources field, or other related field. OR
- Three years professional experience managing volunteer programs and volunteers; may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- A firm understanding of the best practices related to volunteer human resource management and volunteer programs
- Interpersonal skills that demonstrate sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Problem solving and deductive reasoning skills.
- Experience in scheduling and supervising volunteers.
- Strong interpersonal communication abilities, which facilitate building relationships among individuals with diverse backgrounds
- The ability to develop creative, pragmatic ways to solve problems and improve processes
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Enjoy working with the public and volunteers
- Human Resource Management Certificate and/or three years professional experience managing volunteer programs and volunteers.
- Preference may be given to applicants with NRA safety certifications.
- Preference may be given to applicants with Trauma/First Aid certifications.
Working Conditions:
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
- Ability to conduct work for an extended period of time in a variety of weather conditions (snow/rain in temperatures ranging from below freezing to in excess of 100 F).
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
- Lee Kay Public Shooting Range is open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays.
- Hours of operation fluctuate seasonally.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation appropriate for employees working with firearms and children.
- Requires weekend and evening work.
- Ability to conduct work for an extended period of time in a variety of weather conditions (snow/rain in temperatures ranging from below freezing to in excess of 100 F).
- Must have or obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
Salary : $22 - $25
