The Adult Services Division (ASD) is one of five divisions that sits within the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) and the Assistant Director will oversee the operations and strategic initiatives of the Long Term Services and Supports unit, ensuring the effective delivery of long-term services and supports to older Vermonters and adults with physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Long-Term Services and Support unit, including policy development, planning, and implementation.
  • Manage Medicaid-funded long-term services and supports, including programs such as Choices for Care, Brain Injury Program, Attendant Services Program, and Adult High Technology.
  • Collaborate with the Money Follows the Person (MFP) team to manage federally funded projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with agencies responsible for Medicaid program administration as well as state and federal lawmakers, industry, trade associations, public interest groups, and the general public
  • Directly supervise 4 staff members,

The Assistant Director reports to the Adult Services Division Director. Telework is an option, with some in-person meetings required.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily within a standard office setting, but some travel may be required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outsidenormal office hours may be required. May require presentations before a wide variety of audiences with diverse opinions. Pressure from deadlines should be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in human services or related field, AND three (3) years or more at or above a supervisory level in a field directly related to human services.

Bachelor's degree in a human service field, or in a field closely related to human services AND five (5) years or more at a professional level in a field directly related human services field INCLUDING three (3) years or more at or above a supervisory level in human services.

Preferred Qualifications

State Medicaid program experience and familiarity with 1115 waiver, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, program management, and supervision.
