Custodian III

Overview

Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian III with the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Division.

As part of the O&M team, you may work as a crew lead while also having an assigned area to clean and maintain. This position serves the Capital District in Montpelier, which includes the State House and many historic buildings.

This is a full-time position, and the hours are 12pm - 8:30pm, Monday through Friday. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a criminal background check are required.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.

OR

Two (2) years as a BGS Custodian II.

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
