Overview

Come join a dynamic team regulating financial products and services in Vermont! The Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) includes the Divisions of Banking, Insurance, Captive Insurance and Securities. As Executive Director, you will work with the Commissioner and leadership team to coordinate our activities across divisions and work across state government to advance the goals and strategy of DFR.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Coordination the work of the four Divisions, Business Office, Legal and Policy teams to ensure a unified approach and efficient operations in our regulatory activities, public presence, and strategy.
  • Lead our education and outreach efforts, including coordination of our summer internship programs
  • Supervision of DFRs Communications
  • Project management and leadership on inter-departmental relationships and initiatives
  • Synthesize and leverage data collected to help advance our department mission.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong background in financial sector and/or regulation in the financial sector
  • Have experience bringing complex initiatives across the finish line, leveraging strong organizational skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Strong people leadership and communication skills, with experience in outreach and education of technical subject matter
  • Experience in data analysis, visualization and report writing

This is a Montpelier based position. The salary for this position is expected to be between $100,000 and $120,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.

DFR supervises the businesses and individuals that offer financial services and products in Vermont. Our Department aims to assure the solvency, liquidity, stability, and efficiency of all such organizations, to assure reasonable and orderly competition, thereby encouraging the development, expansion, and availability of financial services and products advantageous to the public welfare and to maintain close cooperation with other supervisory authorities. DFR supervises in such a way as to protect consumers against unfair and unconscionable practices and to provide consumer education.

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) or more years experience in financial services or regulation AND two (2) or more years in a supervisory role.
