As an IT Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Labor in their digital transformation efforts. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including technical teams and security experts, to ensure the smooth operation of digital systems and the development of innovative solutions. While current modernization efforts are underway, this position is anticipated to be 100% on site in Montpelier. After this period, this position is part of a team that is currently 80 / 20 remote, meaning we are in the office 1 day per week. For in-office days, the position will be in Montpelier.
The successful incumbent of this position will lead the functional team dedicated to the Department of Labor's Unemployment Insurance division and will have a proven track record of leading teams on medium to large scale technology projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Act as a technical lead on assigned projects and systems
- Apply best practices including but not limited to risk management, operational readiness, and budgetary forecasting
- Coordinate with various cross-functional teams to define appropriate utilization of technology to provide comprehensive solutions
- Analyze and document IT related processes and identify opportunities for improvement and streamlining
- Research and application of learning new tools and methodologies
- Monitor vendor performance
- Preparation of clear and accurate reports
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Environmental Factors
Work is performed in a standard office setting. Some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular work schedule may be anticipated.
Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years or more experience in computer science, business administration, public administration, mathematics, technical operations management or providing support to staff within an Information Technology environment.
Four (4) years or more in an Information Technology Manager role with a combination of experience in computer operations, information technology management / administration or supervisory responsibilities.
