Overview

The Vermont Department of Mental Health (DMH) is searching for a compassionate, detail-and equity-oriented individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in inpatient nursing, since this role is primarily the oversight of involuntary individuals in inpatient mental health units. The role involves some on site work as well as a great deal of independent project management reviewing emergency involuntary procedures, compliance to hospital designation policy, and oversight of electro convulsive therapy. Collaboration is required with leadership within the Department on a daily basis, as well as with leadership in psychiatric settings. This role is integrated in the Department of Mental Health's Quality Team.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS : Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and / or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties may be performed in both field and office settings. Considerable travel may be required to community provider agencies for which overnight stays also may be required. Evening work may be required. Resistance or objection to standards or to survey findings may be anticipated and requires considerable tact and diplomacy to achieve appropriate resolution. Survey deadlines, exit conferences, and interviewing may on occasion cause stress.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in VermontOR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience INCLUDING two (2) years or more of in the specialty area.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

NOTE : Must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license as a condition of employment.
