The Opportunity:
As a Child Care Licensing Supervisor, you will function as the first-line supervisor for a unit of child care licensing staff. This position assigns, prioritizes, and reviews work assignments and provides consultation and direction in the handling of those work assignments. Additionally, this position delegates duties to subordinate staff as appropriate and schedules unit staff to ensure maximum service to customers while working to meet staff needs.
Some of what you'll get to do:
- Assign, delegate, prioritize, and review work assignments.
- Provide consultation and direction to staff regarding customer services.
- Recruit and interview new staff and recommend hiring to the Area Administrator.
- Develop training plans for staff and train new and existing staff in the laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing their job assignment including the use of online licensing tools and other applicable computer systems.
- Inform the unit of new agency policies and procedures and ensure that the unit reads, acknowledges, and follows all DCYF policies and procedures.
- Arrange for training and specific job assignments and career development for staff and ensure all staff complete required trainings.
- Communicate with the AA regarding necessary personnel and licensing issues within the unit.
- Ensure the unit complies with DCYF’s Public Records policy and procedure.
- Monitor accuracy and timeliness of completion of the process for applications, monitoring visits, complaints, and follow-up.
- Ensure that the unit completes all licensing applications within the established timeframe.
- Review and process dispute reviews in accordance with DCYF’s Dispute Review policy and procedure.
- Review and process waivers and variances in accordance with DCYF’s policy and procedures.
- Ensure that licensors monitor licensed family home child care, centers and school-age facilities every Fiscal Year in accordance with DCYFs Monitoring Visit policy and procedure.
- Review the level of risk in cases alleging abuse and/or neglect of children and ensure appropriate reporting has taken place.
- Consult with the AA on issues of imminent risk to children, chronic violations, complex cases, LD/CPS, media matters and other cases as directed by the AA.
Required Qualifications:
- Six (6) years of experience doing work in a lead and/or supervisory role in case management, working in child care services or K-12 education.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 2 or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 3 or equivalent. .
- A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field; AND five (5) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
- A Master’s degree in early childhood education, social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field; AND four (4) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
Note(s):
- Above experience may also include working knowledge of licensing processes, regulatory compliance and/or early childhood education.

- Concepts of community organization as applied to the development of community resources

- Communicate up and down the chain of command and develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of levels of staff
