Salary: $58,380.00 - $78,468.00 yearly. The salary does not include an additional 5% premium pay for employees working in an on-site 24/7 facility.
The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is looking for a Juvenile Rehabilitation Transition/Employment Coordinator (JRS) to join our team to plan and schedule Future Planning Meetings (FPM’s), coordinate and promote transitional services for all young people releasing to a Juvenile Rehabilitation Region within Washington State, and complete resource/needs assessments for pre-release young people.
The Opportunity:
You will use your leadership skills to provide region-wide coordination of the JR MyJOB employment program in DCYF-JR Regional offices. You will also provide case management, transition planning, counseling and treatment referral services for young people and/or their families. Join our team in creating pathways for self-sufficiency through meaningful partnerships, employment, new opportunities and effective rehabilitation as young people prepare to return to their communities.
Some of what you will do:
- Provide coordination and oversight for regional employment program serving individuals who are transitioning to the community.
- Implement and adhere to the research-based program for employment called MyJOB, an Employment Education Training Program, offered in JR.
- Perform basic data entry and retrieval functions producing periodic outcome reports using an electronic management information system.
- Participate in a variety of meetings and travel both locally and occasionally statewide.
- Meet with program participants who are either residing in an institution, community facility or transitioning to the community, to develop a personalized career pathway.
- Conduct group career-related workshops on topics such as resume writing, interviewing, and dressing for success, and teach/reinforce soft skills required to maintain employment as needed.
- Contact employers to develop job opportunities for specific JR young people, and provides regional staff with information on work opportunities.
- Coordinate and promote transitional/direct services for youth in Juvenile Rehabilitation.
- Facilitate Future Plan Meetings.
- Identify resources within a subscribed geographical boundary that will benefit the youth and families we serve.
- Engage residential staff and youth/families when developing pre-release transition services.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or experience, totaling six years.
OR
One year as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2 working as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Community Counselor (JRCC) or Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselor (JRRC).
OR
A Bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation and parole, social services, planning, directing and/or facilitating youth group activities or experience in a related field.
A Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or in an allied field will substitute for one year of the required years of experience.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
- Understanding of adolescent development and juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles; experience providing cognitive/behavioral therapeutic interventions.
- Previously demonstrated competency in relating to clients from urban settings and low socio-economic backgrounds.
- Competency in relating to clients from urban settings and low socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to model pro-social behavior that promotes skill development and acquisition related to JR’s Integrated Treatment Model and reinforces youth skill generalization.
- Knowledge of Evidence Based and Research Based methods and techniques including techniques of teaching others to job search, about job placement and job retention, including experience with resume development and job interview skills.
