The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity to be a Human Resource Consultant Assistant 1 within our Human Resources Office. Under general supervision, this position will perform a variety of complex clerical projects and assignments such as preparing reports; preparing, reviewing, verifying, processing, and filing human resources related documents; issuing correspondence such as hire letters and responses to requests for information; establishing electronic recordkeeping/filing systems and database files; and responding to inquiries and acting as reception for the Human Resources department. This position is part of the employment data team, which has one HRC3 and three HRC1s. Reporting to the HRMS & Data Reporting Manager, who in turn, reports to the HR Director.
Duties
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Human Resources Division with personnel actions and office support.
- Process and file employment and office documents.
- Issue correspondence such as hire letters, emails to Division and Agency staff, and responses to requests for information.
- Prepare documents and reports.
- Assist in completing public records requests.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in providing office clerical support in an office setting.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Skilled in using general Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.

- The position's assigned duty station is the Natural Resources Building in Olympia, Washington. Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an open cubicle office environment.
- The position requires occasional (less than 5%) travel for meetings, trainings, and/or visits to region offices and work centers in remote locations throughout the state. Overnight travel is rare and not anticipated.
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Office Administration, Business, or related field from an accredited institution.
- 3 years of office clerical experience.
- 6 months' experience in Human Resources.
