DSHS's Facilities, Finance & Analytics Administration (FFAA) have an exciting opportunity for a Grounds and Nursery Services Specialist 4 to join our team at Yakima Valley School, in Selah, WA.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you'll do:
- Lead and execute landscaping projects – Mow, prune, fertilize, and irrigate lawns, shrubs, and trees to maintain a healthy and visually appealing landscape.
- Plan and manage grounds maintenance – Develop and implement operating plans, estimate annual material needs, and oversee landscaping projects.
- Operate and maintain equipment – Use and repair motorized lawn care tools, irrigation systems, power equipment, and light construction machinery.
- Ensure safety and compliance – Maintain adherence to safety protocols for hazardous chemicals, equipment use, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate and instruct others – Guide groundskeeping staff, coordinate special projects, and communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
- Keep our spaces functional and beautiful – Perform minor repairs to building fixtures, walkways, and parking lots; handle snow removal and storm cleanups.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Who should apply:
- A college degree involving major study in agronomy, botany, horticulture, soils or closely allied field may be substituted for gardening experience.
