The Opportunity
What to Expect
- Review payment vouchers submitted by WSDOT organizations to ensure compliance with established accounting policies and approve in WSDOT accounting system TRAINS.
- Review purchase card transactions in PCMS system, ensuring all transactions are in compliance with WSDOT and/or state requirements – authorize reviewed transactions and export by bi-weekly established deadlines.
- Monitor previous cycles in PCMS and communicate with responsible offices about transactions that remain outstanding beyond 30 days.
- Monitor Vendor Payments inbox for online payment voucher submissions and respond as necessary.
- Provide exceptional level customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Process various types of warrant cancellations and/or reissues based on corresponding procedures, submit cash transfer to treasurer’s office by established deadlines.
- Advise, assist, and provide information to internal customers on compliance, agency/state policies and procedures as it relates to payment voucher documents, travel rules, miscellaneous reimbursements and PCMS transactions.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of relevant professional experience in a financial field. (Additional education can substitute for experience)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a high-functioning team.
- Ability to research applicable state laws, rules, policies and procedures related to area of responsibility.
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks, switching between multiple tasks daily.
- Proficiency with Microsoft systems (excel, outlook, teams) at an intermediate level.
- Ability to meet established deadlines.
- Ability to pass a background check.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- 18 quarter/12 semester credits in accounting.
- Government experience.
- Experience with WSDOT systems (i.e. TRAINS).
Important Notes
- This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs.
- This position may be eligible for partial telework after training period. Position will require a minimum of two days per week in Olympia HQ office with required adjustments for deadlines and workload peaks.

- In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
