The Opportunity
The IT System Administration Journey incumbent is an expert-level professional for server, network and ITS hardware and software. This position applies advanced technical knowledge in the acquisition, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution of all TS and ITS-related items. This position is an expert-level Intelligent Transportation System professional responsible for region-wide high risk/high impact and mission critical activities in support of the Spokane Regional Transportation Management Center (SRTMC) in Spokane, WA.
What to Expect
- Designs, integrates and supports central systems that integrate with Intelligent Transportation System devices
- Monitors and troubleshoots SRTMC network equipment associated with the Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS)
- Identifies technology currently in use, and research emerging trends to develop technology roadmap for future implementation in the SRTMC
- Integrates updated ITS field devices with central server applications
- Coordinates with peers in local agencies and other WSDOT Regions to identify trends and technology needs and prepare SRTMC network for future growth
- Evaluates and solves connection issues across multiple networks
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems and 5 years of technology services work showing direct relationship to other qualifications or 10 years of experience in technology services with demonstrated direct support of ITS devices.
- Supervisory experience
- Valid driver’s license
- PC and PC peripheral hardware and software architecture and operational theory
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems, applications, management and technical tools and commonly used SRTMC operations application/central system software
- Current hardware and software technology for data systems and telecommunications systems
- Principles and techniques of complex systems analysis and programming
- Substantial knowledge of and understanding of imaging and group policies
- Substantial knowledge of and understanding of networked computing environment and infrastructure
- Budget preparation and administration related to IT infrastructure purchasing and maintenance
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- Network Administrator certification
- CCNA, CCNP or other industry standard network certification
- Security certification
- Network certification
