What to Expect
- Utilize guidelines and procedures consistent with objectives for the maintenance program biennial allocation.
- Assist maintenance org managers on budget formulation, policies, application, and control.
- Recommend changes in existing procedures.
- Monitor budget control procedures.
- Work with maintenance areas and region staff on issues associated with inventory control, stockpile adjustments, and TEF rental charges to ensure accuracy of reports and impacts on the maintenance budgets.
- Work with Headquarters (HQ) Financial Services and HQ Risk Management to develop procedures and guidelines.
- Take lead on Disaster Project funding.
- Provide detailed budget data and assist in preparing materials for budget proposals.
- Organize and update North Central Regions Snow and Ice policies and procedures.
- Coordinate region efforts with HQ Maintenance for statewide application.
- Coordinate with Region Material Engineer and Maintenance Superintendents to identify Region pavement needs and priorities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Maintenance Lead, Construction project manager, Transportation Engineer 2 or Equivalent (Equivalent such as a crew manager on a construction project or something similar).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of budgeting/accounting principles.
- Knowledge of computer software, complex spreadsheets and databases.
- Ability to give presentations, conduct training and facilitate meetings.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- Three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Budget Analyst, Construction project manager, Transportation Engineer 2 or equivalent.
- Post-secondary accounting courses/AA/BA in accounting or equivalent experience such as QuickBooks for budget management.
- Working knowledge of WSDOT Maintenance Budget Process and related accounting processes and procedures.
