We are excited to announce this promotional opportunity for a full-time Resident Care Manager, Registered Nurse 3 position at our historic Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington!
Please Note:The expected hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step T. Step U has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules".
Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty-four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

As the RN3 - Resident Care Manager Day Shift Supervisor, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), you will provide professional nursing services and have oversight in the delivery of nursing and nursing-related care to residents of the Washington Soldiers Home with direct supervision to frontline staff.

Duties
Some of what you'll do:

Coordinate assignments of staff to residents, provide direction and information via accurate
communication of current resident status and care needs to the staff. -
Participate in Nursing Management team activities that include development, review, revision and
implementation of department, facility and nursing policies and procedures, infection control,
improving nursing organizational performance, investigations, incident follow-up and any function that
contributes to quality care of the residents. - Promotes resident autonomy and control over everyday matters.

Maintains standards and character within areas of supervision and ensures the physical integrity of
the areas through regular-ongoing observations, timely maintenance requests and resident and staff
education and monitoring. -
Provides input for care conferences. Uses nursing judgment and knowledge to present and evaluate
options for meeting residents’ needs. - Manages the outcomes of care conferences on assigned areas of care.

Ensures clear, consistent documentation of resident care to meet facility standards, state and federal
regulations. Ensures adherence and application of agency and facility policy and procedure. -
Oversee reporting of incidents ensures prompt, thorough initial investigation of incidents in compliance
with regulations. Communicates and works with investigations nurse to ensure thorough
investigations. Assists in the development of action plans to respond to findings. -
Reviews and understands MDS reports. Determines necessary follow up on areas of concerns
through regular review of MDS acuity reports. - Coordinates efforts to maintain residents’ skin integrity.

Coordinates Licensed Nurses efforts to complete medication administration in accordance with
physicians’ orders, facility policy, and state/federal regulations. -
Responsible for job performance evaluations for all Registered and Licensed staff and supports
Licensed staff in supervising, guiding, counseling and job performance evaluation for Nursing
Assistants. - And much more!
Qualifications
Required:
- A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered professional nurse.
- Two (2) years of professional nursing experience.
- Strong clinical skills and long-term knowledge, including all regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to articulate accurate methods and practices of nursing and restorative care; personal hygiene and sanitation
- methods, record keeping, report preparation, infection control procedures and resident rights.
Preferred/Desired:
- Supervisory nursing experience.
- Bachelor's degree involving major study in nursing.
- Three years of professional nursing experience preferably in Long Term Care.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies. Employee must also be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and data entry.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
- Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
