Description:
This recruitment is for one (1) full-time, permanent, Diversity Equity Inclusion Consultant position for the Parks Director’s office located in Tumwater, Washington. Working hours are generally Monday- Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm with hybrid work options. This position may require some day travel and occasional overnight travel to accomplish assignments.

About the position:
This position reports to the DEI Director and supports the strategic planning and delivery of statewide DEI services. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of State Parks DEI strategic plan, equity frameworks, and programs that align with the agency’s vision, mission, and goals.
This position is eligible to telework but is frequently required to report on-site to meet business needs. The default assigned work location of all Parks positions – both on-site and telework eligible positions – is within the State of Washington. Frequency of onsite work will vary based on business and operational needs. Parks may choose, but are not required, to support out-of-state telework on a case-by-case basis.
Duties
Some of what you will do:
- Work with the DEI Director to develop and implement the State Parks DEI strategic initiatives.
- Steward the PEAR (Pro-Equity Anti-Racism) team of diverse external and internal stakeholders to inform agency decision-making, policy, and processes through a DEI lens.
- Support the implementation of DEI strategies across the agency by working with agency leaders to embed and operationalize equity into services, policies, and processes.
- Coordinate and facilitate DEI related programming, including trainings, workshops, community of practices and conversational communities to serve both internal and external stakeholders.
- Steward statewide external initiatives to advance equity, such as Everyone Outdoors program and No Child Left Inside.
- Support agency teams to develop relationships and partnerships with diverse community members and groups at a local level to achieve the goal that all State Parks services, processes and places are accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for all people.
- Support agency’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and agency representatives for Statewide Business Resource Groups (BRGs).

Required qualifications:
Qualified candidates will meet one of the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of experience as defined below.
- Six (6) or more years of experience as defined below.
- Professional experience leading programs that focus on diversity, equity, inclusion that addresses social disparities, social justice, and/or working with historically marginalized groups.
- Experience working with systemically marginalized communities, including but not limited to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), 2LGBTQ (2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, and more), veterans, and people with disabilities.
- Experience facilitating trainings related to identity, oppression, and equity.
- Program management experience, including leading and managing multiple, complex projects at the same time.
- Experience developing metrics and assessment tools to evaluate programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
