This role is essential to ensuring a safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation system that supports communities and economic vitality. Join our team and contribute to maintaining critical infrastructure that connects people and businesses across Washington!What to ExpectAmong the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Bridge Maintenance Specialist 2 will : Inspect the condition of floating bridges, approaches, and related equipment.Perform repairs on bridge structures, including expansion joints, ladders, and railings.Operate Under Bridge Inspection Trucks (UBIT), mobile cranes, workboats up to 40', and various man lifts safely.Use CDL vehicles, light trucks, and other equipment, including power and hand tools.Utilize fall protection, personal protective equipment, and safety gear appropriately.Remove water from pontoon interiors using pumps and dehumidifiers.Adjust pontoon positioning cables using hydraulic power units.Repair boater protection buoys and cables as needed.Paint over graffiti and maintain bridge surfaces.Assist with operating bridge control systems and perform other assigned duties.QualificationsTo be considered for this opportunity, the following are required : High school graduation or GEDTwo (2) years of journey-level experience in construction or a related trade such as steel fabrication, carpentry, electrician, concrete, mechanic, millwright, etc.In addition to : Valid Driver's licenseAbility to follow directions and safety procedures and equipment.Able to work at heights over 100' on catwalks, UBIT, or suspended staging.Ability to work in confined spaces.Ability to manipulate 50 lbs. with or without assistance.Ability to wear all required PPE, including respirators.Class A CDL, N tank endorsement, without restrictions E for no manual transmission and L for air brake restriction, or ability to get one within 6 months of employment.Must be available to perform standby duties on a rotational basis, working nights, days, weekends, and holidays as required for business operations or to respond to unscheduled emergencies. You are expected to report to your assigned duty station within 60 minutes if called after hours. Additionally, you will work alternate shifts and emergency shifts as assigned, and you must be able to respond to emergencies in marine environments and all types of weather, including storms, 24 / 7, either alone or as part of a team.It is preferred that qualified candidates also have the following : Four (4) years Journey level experience in a related trade.Commercial workboat operationImportant NotesThis recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs.The salary listed includes the legislative-approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County and a 10% Group C premium.This position is not eligible for remote work.This position is subject to the drug and alcohol testing requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA).
