Join a high performing team in support of a transformational software replacement project for the Washington Courts of Limited Jurisdiction (District and Municipal Courts). We are replacing a legacy Case Management System with a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solution to improve services for the court and probation customers of AOC.

 

The Courts of Limited Jurisdiction (CLJ-CMS) project is seeking a Data Migration Specialist. Responsibilities include working with the project’s Business Analysts and the Vendor to identify the field level data mapping, migrating the data from SQL Server and other data sources and converting it over to the COTS products.

 

This position is responsible for designing, testing, and executing data conversion routines to migrate data from legacy databases into the new COTS database using current ETL tools and best practices. The successful candidate will create and implement automated validation routines to report on and ensure that data quality, integrity, and completeness are maintained. This position will participate in design reviews of high risk, high impact statewide systems and services.

 

Reporting to the CLJ-CMS IT Supervisor, this senior-level position is expected to work independently and has decision making responsibility commensurate with the role.

Location:         Olympia, Washington

Salary:             Range 72: $91,068 - $119,496 per year (DOQ).

Closes:            Wednesday, February 5, 2025. AOC reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time.

 

*Duration: This is a CLJ-CMS project position that has secured funding through June 30, 2025. It is anticipated that continued funding will be approved through December 31, 2027.

 

WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENCY AND TELEWORK INFORMATION

 

AOC requires employees to reside in Washington State.  Any exceptions must be approved.  If you are invited to interview and currently reside outside of Washington State, seek more information about residency requirements from the AOC hiring manager of this recruitment.


This position requires one (1) day per week working onsite at AOC facilities.

  • Work with project and agency business analysts and technical staff as well as vendor resources to identify field level data mapping, moving data from SQL Server and other data sources and converting it into the COTS products.
  • Responsible for designing, testing, and executing data conversion routines to migrate data from legacy databases into the new COTS database using current ETL tools and best practices. 
  • Create and implement automated validation routines to ensure that data quality, integrity, and completeness are maintained; provide reports as requested. 
  • Participate in design reviews of high risk, high impact statewide systems and services.
  • Responds to customer service requests and provides expert level troubleshooting, problem resolution and consulting. 
  • Participates in design reviews of high risk, high impact statewide systems and services. 
  • Reviews and evaluates work products for accuracy and applicability. 
  • Performs duties as required. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, computer science, business administration, public administration, or a closely allied field; AND
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience working with complex information technology systems.

 

A combination of education and experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of the duties, responsibilities, and key competencies may substitute for the qualifications listed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in writing SQL queries or other program languages for data verification and quality assurance purposes and creating analysis-ready data tables.
  • Experienced or proficient with computer database software, analytical tools, and other programming languages, including SQL, R or Python, HTML, C#, ArcGIS, and/or other IT-related languages or applications
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in the following:
    1. T-SQL
    2. SQL Server
    3. Data Conversion
    4. Data Cleansing methodologies
  • Experience with Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools strongly desired.
  • Able to identify key facts in a range of data; notices when data is inaccurate, incomplete, or needs verification; distinguishes information not pertinent to a decision or solution.
  • Breaks down complex information into parts. Sorts and groups data and applies relationships. Sees underlying principles, patterns, or themes in various related information.
  • Detailed-oriented, strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong initiative-taker with a positive, can-do attitude, with the ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.

  • Experience creating meaningful executive-level reports and data dashboard solutions using tools like SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing. Must possess the ability to communicate technical information to lay audiences using plain language and communicate effectively and efficiently with skilled technical staff. 
  • Interpersonal skills to work across divisions and ability to cultivate and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers, customers and clients.
