King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
The work schedules are as follows:
Sun-Thu 5:00am-1:30pm
Some of what you'll be doing:
- Works under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor 2
- Coordinate and assist in food service operations tasks and duties designated by the supervisor and manager
- Prepares and cooks food for patients
- Assigns kitchen personnel to ensure that all regular and special diets are correctly and safely prepared by complying with instructions and standard procedures
- Assists in planning menus, ordering, storing, and maintaining inventories of foods and supplies
- Participates in the cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen areas including ovens, steam ports, refrigerators and utensils, serving areas, floors, walls, and carts, while maintaining the standard of all Federal, State, local, and DSHS health and safety standards
- Leads and participates in the proper storage and utilization of leftover ingredients and products; rotates stock
- Inventories and maintains necessary supplies and goods for assigned meals and kitchens
- Evaluates meal tickets, menus, and patient meals for errors, changes, correct temperatures, food safety, and food quality.
- Provides customer service in a Behavior Health setting
- Two years of cooking experience in large-scale food services OR one year as a Cook 1 in State service
- Maintain a valid Food Handler’s Permit issued by a County in Washington State
- Team players who are organized, accountable, willing to learn, and who have a positive attitude every day
- Knowledge of: operation and maintenance of kitchen and dining room; large-scale preparation of food; personal hygiene, sanitation, and housekeeping practices; safety precautions; operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment
- Must be able to work overtime, different shifts, and holidays as required by program needs
- Ability to: lead staff; direct others in and perform food preparation, serving, and cleaning work; follow written and oral instructions; make change; keep simple records and receipts. Ability to obtain a food handler's card within 15 days of employment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment completing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to comply with WSH's health screening requirements by undergoing an initial and annual health screening
- Eligibility to work in a facility receiving Medicare funds
