What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSHS DDA Board-Certified Behavior Analyst Internship position at State of Washington?
Are you a student in a university program to become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)? Are you in need of fieldwork hours? Would you like to experience working with adults or in a residential program? If you have answered yes to these questions, then our BCBA internship was designed for you!
The Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) is seeking college students like you who want to gain valuable experience under close mentorship and supervision.This will be a highly flexible, unpaid internship, designed to work with your schedule in three-month segments, giving you exposure to work that makes an immeasurable impact in our communities.
Each intern is paired with a psychology associate holding a BCBA certification in one of DDA’s State Operated Community Residential Programs (SOCR). We currently have BCBAs ready to provide fieldwork supervision in Thurston, Pierce, and Spokane counties. The internship takes place in a variety of settings, including client homes, communities, and SOCR offices.
Supervisors and interns follow updated BCBA fieldwork experience requirements.Some of what you'll learn and assist with:
- Conducting and writing functional behavioral assessments of clients with challenging behaviors
- Developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating positive behavior support plans
- Designing data collection systems
- Collecting, graphing, and analyzing data
- Training direct support staff
- Attending treatment team or client habilitation or behavior support meetings
- Model interventions
- Using evidence-based practices, provide instruction on defining and measuring behavior
- Provide consultation and support to SOLA clients
- Observe clients and residential staff in client's homes
Elligibility:
• Enrollment or recent graduation from a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in applied behavior analysis or degree that meets the BACB coursework requirements.
• Availability for fieldwork experience Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Pass a background check and federal fingerprint check.
