As a member of our team, you will:
- Perform skilled, journey-level mechanical work to maintain and improve our campus HVAC, appliances, circulation pumps, and other mechanical building equipment.
- And, provide vital building repairs and facility maintenance work in a wide variety of trade fields such as carpentry, light electrical work, fabrication, refrigeration, and plumbing work.

Who should apply?
People who have four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
AND
Have graduated high school or have a GED or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state vehicle.
Some of what you'll do:
- Building maintenance and repairs: Perform advanced repairs and upgrades to building interiors, including drywall, flooring, tile, and roofing.
- Mechanical systems: Maintain and repair mechanical structures, specialized apparatus, automatic doors, and other systems critical to campus operations.
- Specialized installations: Design and install mechanical devices and custom apparatus for the Adult Training Program (ATP).
- Infrastructure management: Maintain campus infrastructure, including walkways, patios, fencing, and decking.
- Reporting and documentation: Conduct assessments, complete work requests, and maintain accurate records of time and materials.
Additional information:
- Work schedule: 4/10’s. Either Monday -Thursday or Tuesday - Friday.
- King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
- Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
What we are looking for:
- Background in facility maintenance (electrical, refrigeration, fabricating, carpentry, and plumbing).
- Knowledge of mechanical practices, methods, materials, tools, equipment, and safety precautions.
- Ability to estimate materials and time needed to complete assigned job.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Journey-level skills in one or more trade fields.
