We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist – Supervisor to join a highly respected team committed to supporting people with Intellectual and developmental disabilities at Lakeland Village Habilitation Center (RHC) within the Department of Social and Health Services. Lakeland Village is a unique environment that offers a chance to partner with people to access support, care and resources, aligning with the mission of DSHS.

In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of three clinical pharmacists and five pharmacy technicians, all of whom are committed to providing quality medical care to the residents of Lakeland Village.  You will be accountable for completing annual employee evaluations, performance and development plans, daily work performance feedback, and corrective action if needed. In addition, you'll collaboratively work with the facility executive team and consult with other DDA teams. The supervising pharmacist will direct and provide facility-wide pharmaceutical services, including planning, development, and supervision; purchasing, inventory, drug distribution, information, and record-keeping; and clinical pharmacy contributions.

Some of what you will do
  • Supervises distributive pharmaceutical functions including: 
    • Drug procurement.
    • Inventory management.
    • Drug distribution.
    • Controlled substance management.
  • Supervisor responsibilities to include: 
    • Initiate and/or participates in the hiring, training, counseling, corrective action. and evaluation process of subordinate staff.
    • Observes, monitors, and evaluates Pharmacy Technicians and  Assistants.
    • Investigate and take appropriate action on subordinate staff.
    • Processes subordinate employee personnel actions and accident reports.
  • Participates with physicians and other health professionals as a consultant on pharmacotherapeutics and provider of medication information.
  • Obtains comprehensive medication histories on all clients/residents.
  • Provides formal analysis and consultation on all medication assay reports.
  • Provides comprehensive medication information services to the medical staff including literature retrieval and critical evaluation.
  • Acts as a liaison between medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff. 
  • Conducts regular reviews of all clients/residents receiving medication therapy and makes appropriate comments and recommendations to responsible physician and in the medical record.
  • Consults on nursing facility (F-tags) and intermediate care facility (W-tags) pharmacy regulations as well as Washington Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Development Disability Administration policies regarding pharmacy practice.

Who should apply
  • Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree; or
  • Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Pharmacy with clinical emphasis; or
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy with Clinical Emphasis, a completed Residency Program in Clinical Pharmacy, and two years of long-term care clinical consultative pharmacy and its accompanying regulations experience.
  • Pharmacy experience.
  • And the ability to distinguish between shades of color.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry, Pharmacotherapy, Geriatrics, Ambulatory Care, or Diabetes.   
Additional benefits
$10,000 for Board Certification in an area relevant to patient care from an accredited program by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (Psychiatric Pharmacy, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacotherapy or Ambulatory Care, or the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy, or the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators). 
Up to 6 days off for Continuing Education necessary for the maintenance of a license relevant to patient care - reimbursement up to $5,000 for continuing education.
May qualify for student loan repayment program.

Duties performed on-site at this work location are currently eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
