The Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) has an opportunity to have you interview resident applicants for job placement, maintain resident vocational and training files including clinical and medical clearance, and manage resident job timesheets. You will regularly make rounds at job sites, monitor work progress & report information when requested.   You will provide reports and consultation to program area staff, managers, and treatment providers regarding residents' work performance and assist program heads or leads in the completion of performance reviews.
SCC is a highly structured and secure treatment setting located on McNeil Island in the beautiful Puget Sound. Our program treats people who are detained and/or civilly committed and assists them in addressing their sexual offending and individual treatment needs. 

This is an on-site position and is required to report to McNeil Island.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you'll do:  

  • Resident Job Performance Evaluation (Reviews) as needed, make rounds at job sites, observe residents' job performance, and offer suggestions for improvements
  • Provide feedback to worksite supervisors regarding residents' work performance
  • Assist worksite supervisors as requested, in completion of performance reviews
  • Assist in resident training
  • Create timesheets for approved workers each pay period
  • Review timesheets for accuracy
  • Coordinate final adjustments to timesheets with payroll staff
  • Determine job specifications. position time allotments, special project positions, extra work assignments, and exceptions to existing work schedules, managing resident work schedules
  • Create or revise job descriptions and tailor job announcements, based facility needs from the specific worksite supervisors
  • Coordinating and facilitating interviews for residents

 What we are looking for: 

  • Experience operating a desktop computer using Microsoft software programs, including Outlook and Word
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment
  • Experience supporting residents who are developmentally disabled and may possess a co-occurring disorder of mental illness focusing on the resident's rights and quality of life
  • Ability to accurately calculate timesheets with simple mathematic skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions

 Who should apply? Professionals with a high school diploma or GED and successful completion of fifteen specific, job-related college credit hours, and one of the following:

  • Those with a desire to help residents gain vocational skills to successfully transition back into the community
  • Ability to give adapted instruction for different learning levels
  • Experience working with adults who have disabilities 
           

NOTE: An Affiliated Counselor Credential must be obtained through the Washington State Department of Health for all Department of Clinical Services staff members who do not have a related license, including the Adult Training Specialist position. The Affiliated Counselor Credential is required for continued employment in this position and must be obtained at the employee’s own expense.
