DSHS Yakima Valley School Psychologist
Yakima Valley School, Residential Habilitation Center is hiring a Psychologist to join a highly respected team committed to helping clients with developmental disabilities have the supports they need to live healthy, safe, and inclusive lives.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Although each day is different, the following duties encompass the normal activities:
Yakima Valley School is a Nursing Facility for persons with developmental disabilities and is located on a park-like campus in central Washington state, with great views of the surrounding area. Living in central Washington puts you within easy access to sports facilities and outdoor recreation destinations, as well as an agricultural community with fantastic local produce. It offers dry, sunny weather, excellent restaurants, and a diverse community.
The facility houses many services for the benefit of its residents, such as an onsite kitchen, laundry, pharmacy, and support services staff (Psychology, OT, PT, Speech, Recreation, and Social Services). In addition, Yakima Valley School offers respite services for individuals (with a developmental disability diagnosis) who live in the community and non-perm placement for individuals with a dual diagnosis (developmentally disabled and mental health disorder) who are in crisis and need assistance regaining community placement.

Licensed Psychologist, Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an American Psychological Association accredited university psychology department or professional school of psychology with three years of post-doctoral experience and one year of experience supervising other professional psychologists.
In-training positions are available, but you must be approved to take EPPP in WA state or have passed EPPP and applied for licensure in WA state.

- Direct and coordinate the work of psychology associates and other professional staff;
- Serve as the psychological consultant to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
- Provides comprehensive psychological evaluations for newly admitted residents within 30 days following admission.
- Each resident client completes psychological evaluations every year as part of the annual Care Plan process.
- Provide evaluation and behavioral plans for any new short-term admissions, including crisis intervention/prevention plans, as requested.
- Plan, execute, and participate in treatment programs.
- Coordinates and trains staff accordingly.
- Provide maintenance of programs through monthly reviews and quarterly reviews with IDT during the Care Plan process and as part of the Care Plan process on an annual basis.
- Participate in Care Planning meetings along with IDT. Attends quarterly medical reviews, psychiatric reviews, and other clinical meetings for assigned caseload.
- Prepares and presents status reports to the Human Rights Advisory Committee as scheduled and as requested.
- Collaborates and consults with schools/vendors for individuals on assigned caseloads.

- Experience providing treatment to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, and/or co-occurring disorders
- Ability to plan and develop effective behavioral intervention strategies
- Knowledge of diagnostic concepts for developmental disabilities and current treatment and intervention modalities
- Techniques for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of individual treatment plans
