Job Highlights
Join the Fraud Prevention Labor Standards team as an Industrial Relations Agent 3! In this role, you’ll provide oversight and review of reports from agents who investigate wage payment violations. You’ll work to uphold L&I’s mission to Keep Washington Safe and Working by ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Some of what you’ll do:
- Perform review and prepare case files submitted by Industrial Relations Agents prior to referral to the Program Manager or to the Office of the Attorney General
- Ensure inclusion of required documentation and evidence that they are compiled per the wage claim guidelines
- Review information in the Complaint Activity Tracking System (CATS) and enter citation data for transfer into Accounts Receivable & Collections system (ARC).
- Prepare NOAs and DOCs for the program manager’s review and approval.
- Receive and track incoming payments and request warrants via the system to get payments for the claimants.
- Prepare warrant releases, distribute payments and follow up with the claimants regarding the payments received.
- Conduct research and case handling
- Prepare and transfer case appeals to Attorney General (AAG).

Required:
A combined total of six years of education and/or experience.
- Education options includes:
- A Master’s Degree (six years)
- A Bachelor’s Degree (four years)
- An Associate’s degree (two years)
- And/or Experience in one or more of the following areas to reach a total of six years:
- Working with Wage Payment Act (WAC 49.48) and other labor laws
- Experience as an Industrial Relations Agent
- Explanation, interpretation, understanding, and enforcement of rules and regulations regarding RCWs, WACs
- Investigating complaints of misconduct (criminal or civil)
- Collection of revenue/taxes from employers/businesses
- Audit of employer financial records
Note: Experience may be substituted for education at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education for a combined total of 6 years to meet required qualifications.
Desired:
- Knowledge of laws governing all phases of labor relations, general policies, principles and practices; of labor and management; state wage and hour laws and regulations; contracts and related labor relations; ability to apply such knowledge to mediation, arbitration, and resolution; principles, standards and techniques of personal investigations; rules of evidence, auditing, accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
- Ability to interpret complex laws, rules and regulations; analyze issues involving wage disputes and formulate suggestions for compromise and settlement of disputes; prepare written documents; exercise mature judgment in a wide variety of public contact.
- Working with applications or systems such as Outlook, Excel, Word, CATS, LINIIS, and BEAR

For this position, telework is dependent upon business needs and supervisor approval. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
