About the position
This position is part of the integration services team with WaTech’s Computing Services Division. The Integration services team provides seamless integration solutions to all Washington state agencies, enabling them to connect applications, data and devices efficiently. With the growing demand for digital transformation, our Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) offers scalable, secure and cost-effective integration services.
As the Lead Integration Platform Architect, you will be relied on to lead the design, development and implementation of enterprise integration solutions. In this role you will work closely with business partners internal and external to WaTech, providing technical leadership, guiding teams and driving innovation to deliver high-value integration solutions across statewide operations
Some of what to expect with this role:
- Assess WaTech’s requirements to design scalable, secure, and efficient integration architectures using MuleSoft Anypoint and other platforms like Azure Integration Services.
- Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that align with WaTech’s goals and industry trends to improve integration capabilities.
- Produce detailed diagrams and documentation outlining integration workflows, technical specifications and system dependencies.
- Monitor solutions to ensure they meet performance, security, and scalability benchmarks.
- Design Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for automating testing, deployment and monitoring of integration solutions.
- Analyze system logs and metrics to identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring smooth data flow across integrated systems.
- Proactively address vulnerabilities identified in audits.
- Assist the Integration Team manager with designing strategies to accommodate growth, support new use cases and integrate future technologies seamlessly.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Ten years of experience in designing and implementing integration solutions, including experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft Anypoint and Azure Integration Services. This experience must include:
- Five or more years in a senior or lead architect role, managing enterprise-level integrations.
- Four years of experience with APIs, microservices, messaging patterns, and cloud-based solutions.
- Four years of experience resolving complex system challenges and aligning solutions with business goals.
* Formal education in information technology or related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis for up to four years.
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:
- A master’s degree in a related discipline for expertise in system architecture and strategic planning.
- Advanced certifications in integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Developer or Azure Integration Services) are highly preferred.
Telework: This position is approved for telework. However, it requires the incumbent to be onsite in our Olympia office on an as needed basis to attend in-person meetings and trainings.

Salary : $99,288 - $133,512
