Under the supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic 4, within the State Maintenance and Support Services (SMSS) of the Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO), this position is responsible to perform sub-journey level functions as associated with assigned work efforts for CFMO related facilities, systems, and equipment.
This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

Responsibilities include:
Sub-journey level work in the completion of assigned preventative maintenance, maintenance, repair, and non-repair efforts.
- Preventative maintenance assignments for mechanical systems and/or equipment such as HVAC and other infrastructure items.
- Maintenance and repair efforts via work orders, as assigned.
- Provide assistance by performing all phases and types of semi-skilled maintenance and repair efforts. Assistance may include mechanical, carpentry, painting, flooring, etc.
- Perform grounds efforts (mowing, edging, and pruning, etc.).
- Perform custodial efforts (trash removal and cleaning).
- Perform snow removal and/or debris removal.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- Two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or building repair work.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building and maintenance work.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building trades.
- Read plans and blueprints
- Consult with supervisors and make recommendations about repairs/remodeling work needed.
- Track, monitor, and log equipment, supplies, and work orders to maintain required maintenance and expense records.
- Operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, scanner, etc.).
Compensation: Wage/salary depends on qualifications or rules of promotion.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background Investigation: Must successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain and maintain a JBLM Temporary Pass through JBLM's Visitor Control Center and/or Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) required to access DoD computer systems. Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files. The processing of background checks can take up to six months post-employment. Failure to successfully pass a background check may be cause for termination.

Driver's License:
- Valid to drive in the State of Washington.
- Must meet requirements of the REAL ID Act. This is required for base access and will be required upon hire.
Military Facility: Willingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation.
Camp Murray utilizes the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) for entry to the installation. Must meet access requirements / background check which can be found in the Camp Murray Access Requirements Policy (Unified Policy No. 18-01). This includes possession of an Enhanced Driver’s License, or other REAL ID Compliant Identification.
Work Hours: A choice between a Monday through Thursday (4/10 schedule), Tuesday through Friday (4/10 schedule) or Monday through Friday (5/8 schedule). Actual hours will start no earlier than 6:00 am and end no later than 6:00 pm and will include core business hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Telework: This position is not eligible for telework.
Emergency Assignment: Upon activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO), incumbent may be required to work in an alternate location with rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings, in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment.
Travel: Occasional statewide travel may be required up to 10% to include overnight stays.
