About the position
This role is part of WaTech’s Secure Gateway Services (SGS) within the Computing Services Division (CSD). This position focuses on developing, configuring, managing, and operating key services such as SecureAccess Washington (SAW), Secure File Transfer, and the Internal Certificate Authority. These critical services are designed to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Washington state’s information, protecting it against unauthorized access, modification, and accidental or intentional damage or destruction.
As the SAW IBM Administrator, you will oversee and support IBM Security Verify Access (ISVA), QRadar, Reverse Proxy, Federation, and Advanced Access Control (AAC) Modules. These components form the backbone of SAW, SGS’s largest service. This position requires expertise as a broad systems specialist, with advanced knowledge of IBM’s proprietary technologies and their integration within our environment. You will deliver Reverse Proxy services, manage access and policy controls, enable single sign-on functionality, and support adapter technologies essential to the Secure Gateway Services team.
Some of what to expect with this role:
- Manage specialized configurations with meticulous planning for maintenance, firmware updates, security patching, and policy configuration.
- Research, plan, execute, and provide guidance on unit testing for these critical appliances.
- Perform and verify maintenance of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and DB2 clusters.
- Configure and maintain QRadar for advanced security logging and event monitoring.
- Integrate ISVA log pipelines with QRadar, WaTech Sentinel Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and the SGS Elastic Instance.
- Conduct complex troubleshooting of IBM technologies integrated with diverse systems.
- Analyze bug and problem reports, replicate issues, and investigate legacy configurations to identify root causes and deliver resolutions.
- Examine stack traces, replicate issues in test environments, and execute test cases to validate fixes.
- Develop and share technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and threat models to assist agencies with planning and implementation.
- Explore integration capabilities between existing hardware/software and IBM Security Verify Access, advising on interim integration solutions for SAW, state agencies, and the CIAM platform.
- Recommend new features, APIs, and policy enhancements to SAW developers.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Eight years of practical experience in the development, analysis, deployment and management of enterprise security tools used to deliver high demand internet-facing services to the public. This experience must include:
- Five years’ proficient experience with scripting languages like JavaScript, Python, or shell scripts.
- Four years’ experience with a large, high volume 24x7 customer or service provider network.
- Four years’ experience in Linux or Unix Server Administration and Support.
- Four years’ experience managing, configuring, and maintaining Reverse Proxy architecture and Advanced Access Control.
- Four years’ experience maintaining and optimizing LDAP and DB2 products.
- Two years’ experience IBM Security Verify Access and related IBM technologies including QRadar.
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field.
- Possesses certifications in IBM technologies.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English.

Salary : $85,764 - $115,344
