We are happy to announce we are now accepting applications for our part-time, NOC shift Registered Nurse 2 position at the historic Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington!
*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step T. Step U has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.
Please Note: The expected shift for this position is 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Friday through Monday.

As a Registered Nurse 2, you'll assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing-related care to our residents. In addition, you'll be responsible for monitoring assigned residents in accordance with standards of practice, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.

- Direct and supervise the care given by nursing personnel in assigned areas; plan, oversee and evaluate their work.
- Perform on-the-job training for newly hired staff.
- Assist physician with physical examinations, techniques and procedures.
- Prepare, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for individual residents based on recommendations of a physician.
- Under physicians' orders, pass medications, administer, monitor, and record treatments, and assess the condition of the resident.
- Maintain healthcare records according to policies and procedures.

- Current Washington State registered nurse license OR unencumbered registered nurse multistate license.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English for medical charts.
Preferred/Desired:
- Long-term care experience.
- One (1) year of experience as an RN.
- Ability to:
- Articulate methods and practices of nursing and restorative care.
- Personal hygiene and sanitation methods, recordkeeping, report preparation, infection control procedures, and resident rights.
- Experience in:
- Assessing, evaluating, and participating in the development of appropriate plans of care.
- Planning, implementing, and documenting appropriate discharge planning for residents when appropriate.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies. Employee must also be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and data entry.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
- Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
