Nature of Work
Wildlife/Apple Grove Fish Hatchery Under limited supervision of the Fish Culturist 3, employee will perform at the advanced performance level for technical and professional tasks at the Apple Grove State Fish Hatchery. This position will assist in the coordination and operation of a level-2 warm water rearing facility with production greater than 100,000 fish annually. This position will supervise facility staff in the absence of the Fish Culturist 3, which includes numerous hourly staff members. The employee will oversee the overall facility maintenance, and lead the daily tasks associated with the grounds and rearing facilities. This position will also assist in facility production and performing all aspects of fish production including; spawning, rearing, caring for all live stages, fish transport, and stocking. Employee will assist in facility reporting including fish inventories, monitoring growth rates, and feed usage. Employee may also assist in the administrative activities for hatchery-related purchases, budgets, equipment inventory, and vehicle use. Employee may also assist in coordinating with other state and federal fish hatchery staff for the transfer and distribution of fish. Housing is not provided. Performs related work as required. Regular attendance is required.
