Nature of Work
Under direct supervision, performs work at the entry-level position. The position of Laundry Worker will be primarily responsible for the daily operations within the primary areas of assignment of laundry and custodial duties.
Collects, sorts, launders, and dries soiled apparel, bedding, bath towels, and other materials. Operates and maintains commercial laundry equipment to include loading, operating, and unloading washers and dryers. Fold, sort, count, mark, stack, pack and deliver finished laundry to all required areas. Ensure all items are up to standard by inspecting all laundered apparel, bedding, bath towels, and any other items for holes and other defects.Routinely clean and disinfect laundry areas and equipment to ensure high standards of sanitation. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and re-orders supplies as needed. Track and document all discards. Log all duties completed. Communicates any maintenance and upkeep issues to the supervisor relating to all laundry equipment.
Custodial duties such as disposing of trash; cleaning, dusting and polishing furniture; vacuuming and cleaning carpets; and washing walls, windows, fixtures, door knobs and handrails. Review and understand the material safety data sheets (MSDS) binder pertaining to all chemicals, adhering to the associated safety requirements. Will perform other duties as assigned.
