The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill an Education Directorposition. This position is located at Fox Lake Correctional Institutionin Fox Lake, WI.

Position Summary

This position provides direct supervision and educational leadership in the development and administration of comprehensive programs in academic, Wisconsin Technical College System's career technical educational, and DPI Special Educational and Title 1 services as well as community living, which includes adult basic education, high school equivalency, vocation / industrial education / training and apprenticeships as applicable. This position supervises and evaluates assigned staff, including Teacher Supervisor, Teachers and a Librarian and participates in performing various Institution administrative duties and activities that includes, but not limited to : Support and coordination with the following programs : corrections industries, unit teams, on-the-job training, and maintenance. This position implements Affirmative Action / Civil Rights Compliance plan within areas of responsibility in compliance with Federal and State Laws.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 81-02 with pay starting from $65395 to $107848 . Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A two year career executive trial period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.

NOTE : This position is NOT eligible for remote work.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have :

  • A Bachelor's degree in an educational related program (e.g. Teaching, content specialist with teaching minor, psychology with an instructional minor, school counseling, etc.)
  • Experience teaching in a classroom or institution of higher education
  • Experience implementing and updating curriculum and / or educational programs
  • Experience performing supervision or lead worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and / or evaluating work; disciplinary matters, hiring, providing training / mentoring, etc.).
  • In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have :

  • A Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders on education matters and ensure effective utilization of other education program resources
