The Division of Adult Institutions is recruiting to fill a Teacher - Special Education position, located at Tacyheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. This is a re-announcement.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Education Director, this position will develop and implement a program of professional educational services in Special Education for students with one or more disabilities as specified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instructions (DPI) that meet their assessed individual academic needs.

The Special Education teacher duties include management of evaluations (initial and three-year), coordinating diagnostic testing, development of the students' Individual Education Program (IEPs), progress monitoring, assessment of evidence-based practices and materials, maintenance of confidential records, and transition planning.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule / range 13-04 with a starting rate pay rate of $29.13 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Special Requirement

Candidate must be licensed in Special Education by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction by their appointment date. Acceptable license areas include Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD - 811), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD-830), Intellectual Disabilities (ID-810), and / or the Categorical SPED license.
