Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant in the Food Service Department.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, daytime hours.

Position Summary
As the Administrative Assistant, you will provide support for the Food Service Department and serve as a liaison between the Food Service Administrator and staff. This includes helping administer changes in the Food service suite program (Cbord); inputting nutritional information, generating and printing tray tickets, production tallies, labels and menus; training management and staff on Food Service Systems, and taking inventory and making purchases of nonfood related items needed in the food service department.
Salary Information
The starting salary is $20.02, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an Office Operations Associate and is in pay schedule and range 02-10.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC, or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:
- Experience utilizing computer programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) for composing emails and memos, creating reports, entering and verifying data, etc. An Excel test will be required.
- Experience providing customer service either in person or by phone. Examples of duties include providing instructions, answering questions, resolving customer complaints/conflict, etc.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or both of the following:
- Experience tracking inventory and ordering supplies.
- Experience working with Access or food service computer programs such as CBORD.
