The Department of Natural Resources is hiring an Air Monitoring Section Manager within the Bureau of Air Management within the Division of Environmental Management Division to administer the statewide ambient air monitoring program.
This position has statewide responsibilities and may be headquartered in the Madison, Milwaukee or Green Bay offices. Regular travel to Madison and across the state will be required. Infrequent travel nationally will also be required.

Position Summary
The duties of this position involve directing long‐range planning and policy initiatives, conducting budget and operational planning and implementation, allocating resources, directing team operations and supervising employees, and assessing and improving program efficiency and effectiveness. This position is responsible for ensuring consistent statewide implementation of the air monitoring quality management system, consistent application of Department policies and procedures, and compliance with state and federal air monitoring rules and laws. This position is responsible for coordinating air monitoring activities with other Department programs, Wisconsin's Tribes, industry, other state agencies, local government, and the federal government. This position is responsible for fostering and managing relationships with these partners and customers.
This position serves as an advisor to the Air Management Program Director on emerging air monitoring issues of a regional, national, or global nature. This position represents the state on national and regional groups developing policies that affect air pollution monitoring strategies for all states. This position serves as a member of the Air Management Team to coordinate budgets, prepare work plans, make staff assignments, establish program objectives and priorities, and evaluate progress in meeting the objectives of the Air Management Program.

Salary Information
Starting pay is $46.00 - $51.00 per hour ($95,680.00 - $106,080.00 annually).
This position is included in the classification Natural Resources Program Manager within Pay Schedule/Range 81-02.
This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

Travel: This position has statewide responsibilities, so routine travel within the state (including frequent travel to Madison) and infrequent overnight travel is required. Infrequent National travel will be required.
