Position Summary
The Wade House Historic Site is a 240-acre outdoor living history museum located in Greenbush, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Guests experience the era of stagecoach travel at the Wade House Hotel and discover what an 1850s town was like at the Dockstader Blacksmith shop and the Herrling Sawmill. Our beautiful Visitor’s Center includes the Wesley J. Jung Carriage Museum with over 40 carriages on display. Horse drawn carriage rides transport guests throughout the site as part of the daily experience and sheep and chickens roam the grounds. Wade House connects people to the past through unparalleled storytelling and historic experiences to create lasting memories. Staff work in historic indoor and outdoor spaces with fellow team members across the picturesque site to create an exceptional experience for our guests.
Bartenders serve as the public face of the Wade House rental program. They are responsible for setting up the bar area, preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area and event space.
Duties:
- Set up bar area, prepare garnishes, stock and replenish inventory as needed throughout the night
- Correctly handle all customer financial transactions by operating cash register and credit card machine
- Greet customers and take beverage orders
- Check guest ID to verify appropriate age for the purchase of alcohol
- Monitor the alcohol intake of guests, prohibiting the sale to those who are intoxicated
- Operate in compliance with federal, state and local law requirements for serving alcohol
- Perform shift opening and closing duties as directed
- Clean, sanitize and maintain bar and event area including counters and equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Salary Information
Pay range is $14.00 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 03-09.
Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.
Job Details
A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 10 hours per week.
Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Excellent customer service, communication, and mathematical skills
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
- Available to work evening and weekend shifts, mostly on weekend nights May – early November. Schedule based on the dates that events are booked.
- Sheboygan County Bartending License preferred, but not required
