The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Corrections Center Superintendent position. This position is based out of Gordon Correctional Center in Gordon, WI (Douglas County).
Position Summary

This position has overall responsibility for the operation and administration of the Gordon Correctional Center (GCC).
This position plans, organizes and directs all activities of a complex multi-phased community centered minimum-security facility, including security, treatment, rehabilitation and general service programs.
This position promotes and maintains community liaison activities by developing a variety of community resources through community service projects, emergency government, police, judicial and educational/vocational resources.
This position directly supervises 9 staff and has overall administrative responsibility for 17 additional employees which provide services to around 120 persons in our care (PIOC).
Areas supervised include business management, food service, maintenance, education, treatment, security and community service projects.
The superintendent is on-call on a 24-hour basis (including weekends and holidays) and responsible for performing any task or activity within the center including: officer duties, handling emergency situations such as disturbances, escapes, urinalysis, purchasing, groups and supervision.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 81-02 with a starting pay of $50.00/hour - $51.85/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A two-year Career Executive trial period will be required, or for those with permanent status as a Career Executive, a twelve-month probationary period may be required instead.

Job Details

This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
Anticipated schedule will be Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. Some flexibility in start time may be available.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position is not anticipated to travel on a routine basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicant will have experience with the following:
Developing and implementing overall security plan, policies and procedures for a facility to ensure safety and continuous operations are in accordance with administrative rules, legal mandates, directives, policies and procedures Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staff (e.g. assigning, evaluating, supervising the work of others; hiring, firing, disciplining, training, monitoring etc.) Establishing, maintaining, coordinating working relationships (e.g. with community organizations, municipal, county and state law enforcement agencies, government officials and the public etc.)

In addition to the above, a well-qualified applicant will have experience with the following:
Managing or providing oversight of multiple business programs and support services (e.g. purchasing, facility maintenance, food service operations, housekeeping, laundry, information technology, communications, stores, etc.) Program Management: (e.g. directing, evaluating, monitoring and coordinating multiple programs such as, but not limited to educational, vocational, recreational activities, treatment, rehabilitation, community service projects, work release etc.)
