The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Corrections Food Service Leader 4 position. This position is based out of St. Croix Correctional Center in New Richmond, WI (St. Croix County).
Position Summary
This position is responsible for regional coordination of Center System menu planning for the Flambeau, Gordon and St. Croix Correctional Centers.
This position provides orientation, instruction, and communicates dietary and menu changes to Center System food service staff.
This position is also responsible for the food service operation at the St. Croix Correctional Center. This position directs the production of meals, trains and supervises Persons in our Care (PIOC) food service workers.
This position also plans meals and procures supplies, cares for and cleans kitchen equipment, maintains food inventory and ensures proper sanitation methods.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Food service workers will work in a commercial-style kitchen in close proximity to other staff and PIOC workers. This position will frequently lift and carry objects of up to 50lbs and need to be able to sit and stand and may climb ladders or stairs. This position must also comply with the center’s health policies, including those regarding Tuberculosis Screening and Hepatitis Vaccination. This position will work holidays and may work weekends and other times as needed or directed.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 03-14 with a starting pay of $25.09/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details
This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site and travel 2-4 days per month to Flambeau Correctional Center (Hawkins, Sawyer County) and Gordon Correctional Center in Gordon, WI (Douglas County).
This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have: Experience preparing and directing other workers in the preparation of cooking and baking of foods, (such as: meats, vegetables, breads, desserts, bag lunches and special occasion meals). Experience training or teaching others skills and tasks (such as: food preparation, cooking, baking, meat, cutting and processing). Experience maintaining cleanliness, ensuring food safety, and monitoring compliance with sanitation standards
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have: Experience maintaining inventory, including: food supplies, materials, and equipment. Experience with financial tasks (such as: cost control, generating purchasing specifications/justifications/requisitions, etc.)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) within six months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and will be required to maintain a valid driver's license during employment
Must have the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs, this may include weekends and holidays.
