Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) is currently accepting applications for the Deputy Policy Director position in her Capitol office in Madison to start as soon as possible. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and energetic person with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Position Summary
Job Responsibilities include the following:
- Support policy director in the development and execution of overall policy agenda for Democratic Caucus
- Work collaboratively with Joint Finance Member Offices throughout the budget process
- Support Minority Leader in overseeing committee assignments and appointments
- Maintain a thorough understanding and track policy initiatives throughout legislative process
- Lead in stakeholder management and provide capacity-building support throughout the office and caucus
- Assist and complete other duties as assigned to support Minority Leader’s Office, Assembly Democratic Leadership, and Assembly Democratic Caucus members
Salary Information
The position is classified as an Administrative Assistant with an annual salary range of $56,693-$86,422 per year. Starting salary is dependent on experience and education. This position receives the same benefits available to other State of Wisconsin employees, including health insurance and retirement. Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- A thorough understanding of the Wisconsin legislative and state budget process
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, advocacy organizations, and lobbyists
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize simultaneous competing projects and duties
- Ability to be highly productive and meet deadlines under fast-paced conditions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
- High degree of professionalism and an understanding of discretion, attention to detail, and the occasional long hours needed to effectively staff a state legislator
