Introduction


Serve a critical role for the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) performing ledger accounting and reconciliation work for over $1.3 billion in revenue collected annually as a Financial Specialist - Advanced!

This position offers a hybridized work schedule after an initial training period. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI. After the initial training period, this position will have the opportunity to work remotely up to 3 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are still expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary


In this position, you will have the primary task of reconciling the 89 field stations, Lockbox and Third Party stations, balancing daily Reserve Recognition Accounting (RRA), and reconciling the local bank accounts. Additionally, you will handle a number of daily transactions and reporting.

You will also have the critical responsibility of auditing financial reconciliations for a variety of tasks within the Revenue Accounting Unit as well as other DMV program areas. This responsibility ensures timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable statutes and State financial guidelines. This will involve individually or with a team evaluating and revising programs and procedures related to Revenue Accounting.

Salary Information


This position is in schedule-range (02-15). The starting pay for this position is $29.58/hr, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications


Qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience reconciling financial statements, records, or accounts.
  • Experience researching discrepancies in accounts to correctly address balancing issues/resolve errors.
  • Experience providing customer service in an office environment.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Program Suite (i.e., Excel) or similar for financial/accounting purposes.
  • Experience auditing/reviewing financial transactions.
