The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Education Director position. This position is based out of S tanley Correctional Institution in Stanley, WI (Chippewa County).
Position Summary

The Education Director performs advanced professional supervisory work in providing persons in our care (PIOC) education, training and rehabilitation goals. This position provides direct supervision and educational leadership in the development and administration of comprehensive programs in academic, Wisconsin Technical College System’s career technical educational and DPI Special Educational and Title 1 services, as well as community living, which includes adult basic education, high school equivalency, post-secondary/career technical (vocation/industrial) education/training and apprenticeships as applicable.

This position supervises and evaluates assigned staff. This position also participates in performing various institution administrative duties, including the selection of new staff and acting as a GED/HSED Chief Examiner.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 81-02 with a starting pay of $43.37/hour . Additional pay may be available based on credits earned above those needed for basic certification. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire.
This position may receive supplemental (add-on) pay adjustments for additional credits relevant to the position that are over and above the credits needed for certification. This add-on ranges from $0.97/hour to $2.97/hour of additional pay, based on relevant credits and professional development actions, as allowed in Section A (4.12) of the Compensation Plan .
A two-year Career Executive trial period will be required, or for those with permanent status as a Career Executive, a twelve-month probationary period may be required instead.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
Anticipated schedule will be Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
Qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Minimally qualified applicants will have: Experience as an educator in a public, private or correctional setting school system Experience developing curriculum or programs for high school or HSED/GED completion Experience performing supervision or lead worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and/or evaluating work; disciplinary matters, hiring, providing training/mentoring, etc.).

In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have: A Master’s degree in Education or related field Experience supervising educators in a public, private or correctional setting Experience with college and vocational level program development and accreditation Experience with evidence-based practices and quality improvement
