What We're Looking For: DATCP’s Division of Food and Recreational Safety is recruiting for an Environmental Health Technology Specialist (Food Scientist - Advanced) to fill an employment opportunity with the Bureau of Food and Recreational Businesses.
Where We’re Located: The Prairie Oaks State Office Building is situated on Madison’s southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.
Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee’s telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to work in Wisconsin.

Position Summary
The position will utilize technical knowledge to provide guidance and training to end users (e.g., agency staff, health departments/agents, etc.) on how to incorporate technology into day-to-day operational use to more effectively manage food and recreational systems and the recording of needed information for easy access and reporting.
To support the continuing use of technology in the Bureau and by its business partners, the position will serve as an administrative and technology contact for a range of Bureau software applications (e.g., SharePoint, HealthSpace, CRM learning management system). The position will further utilize its practical food and recreational field or program experience, along with subject matter expert input, to identify areas where technology can assist with data management, record transfer, and training.

Salary Information
A $0.30 per hour Registered Sanitarian (RS) or NEHA REHS/Registered Sanitarian (RS) add-on may be available depending on qualifications.
Job Details
A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide one’s own transportation for work purposes is required.
Occasional in-state travel for trainings, technical consultations, meetings, etc. with occasional overnight stays, is required.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates must have each of the following:
- Eligibility to obtain a Wisconsin RS certificate or a NEHA REHS/RS certificate within 18 months of start date.
- Experience creating materials used for training purposes and delivering training in a face-to-face setting and/or through remote communication technology.
- Training and/or experience modifying, configuring, designing, or developing software applications in order to improve business efficiency.
In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
- Current possession of a Wisconsin RS certificate or a NEHA REHS/RS certificate.
- Experience modifying, configuring, designing, or developing designing, developing or modifying collaborative software such as CRM, SharePoint, Health Space, etc.
- Experience analyzing and improving business systems using quality improvement, Lean, or other similar methodologies.
- Experience acting in a liaison capacity, representing a business, company, or agency, in order to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders training and/or experience modifying, configuring, designing or developing software applications in order to improve business efficiency.
