Introduction
The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring a Facilities Repair Worker- Advanced. This position is headquartered in Madison. This position will primarily work in Madison but may also be required to travel to other facilities located in Area 1 (southwest corner of the state).
The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, working 8-hour shifts OR Tuesday through Friday, working 10-hour shifts. The final schedule will be discussed with the candidate at the time of employment offer.

Position Summary
The Facilities Repair Worker - Advanced reports to the Building and Grounds Supervisor. This position is responsible for general buildings and ground maintenance and upkeep in Madison at our Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) building as well as other Area 1 facilities (Area 1 is the southwest corner of the state).
The position completes inspections and accomplishes minor maintenance, repair, and structural alterations on mechanical and building systems. It will complete all required preventative maintenance functions, meet all interval requirements, and maintain an adequate inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment to accomplish all job-related duties. The position assists in monitoring various contract services and assists with lawn mowing and snow removal operations using heavy equipment when necessary. The Facilities Repair Worker- Advanced accurately completes all required paperwork and submits as required. Occasionally, the position will provide support for maintenance requirements at other DMA facilities and perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Information
Starting pay is $23.69/ hr.
This position is in the 03-12 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.
The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, working 8-hour shifts OR Tuesday through Friday, working 10-hour shifts. The final schedule will be discussed with the candidate at the time of employment offer.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Job Details
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, and climb ladders.
Must be able to operate lift equipment and have no limitations for working in high areas.
Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.

All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
Qualifications
Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have training/ experience with:
- Building construction and repair concepts and techniques, mechanical repair, and maintenance principles.
- General groundskeeping and landscaping methods/procedures, as well as the ability to operate and repair grounds maintenance equipment.
