The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Food Service Administrator position. This position is based out of Jackson Correctional Institution in Black River Falls, WI (Jackson County).
Position Summary

The Food Service Administrator is responsible for the planning, direction and operation of a complex food service program at the Jackson Correctional Institution, an adult male, medium security institution.

The food service program prepares, distributes and serves meals and medically prescribed modified diets for approximately 1600 inmates and eligible staff per meal.

The incumbent will be responsible for supervision of staff and inmates, implementation of a modified diet program, maintenance of security, budgeting, safety and sanitation, and the maintenance of supplies and services.

In addition, the incumbent will assure that daily nutritional needs are met within a designated meal pattern.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 81-03 with a starting pay of $34.00/hour - $44.33/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
Anticipated schedule will be Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. Position may be on call for weekends and holidays.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have:
Experience with food preparation.
Experience with nutrition and/or quality assessment (including modified and/or medically restricted diets).
Experience maintaining inventory, including: food supplies, materials, and equipment.
Experience and/or training pertaining to food related health, safety, sanitation, and security i.e. ServSafe Certification.
Experience leading and directing the work of other staff members.

Special Qualification:
Employee must obtain ServSafe Certification within six months of hire.
