Position Summary
The Wisconsin Historical Society employs 135 classified and unclassified employees and between 150 and 400 (approximately) limited-term employees across 14 different regional work locations, depending upon the time of year. Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, this Human Resources Assistant/ Human Resources Assistant-Advanced is responsible for providing confidential work-related support to all areas of the human resources office.
This position establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with managers, supervisors, coworkers, and all customers while providing exceptional service. This role requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion.
Duties include:
Serve as a human resources representative to internal customers such as employees and supervisors and external customers such as applicants on aspects of employment processes
Assist the HR Director and HR Representatives in providing confidential correspondence and communication regarding HR topics
Complete administrative and other duties as assigned
Maintain accurate and up-to-date paper and electronic records
Salary Information
Pay range is $18.00 - $21.00 per hour. Level and pay will be determined based on the qualifications of the individual at the time of hire. These classifications are in schedule and range 81-04 and 81-05.
Please note this Limited Term Employment position does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.
Job Details
This position is an in-person role with flexibility for remote work
A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 20 hours per week.
Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have education, training and/or experience in the following:
- Working in a system to track applicants, customers, employees, patients, etc., where accuracy is a must
- Providing administrative support in an office setting
- Working with confidential or sensitive information or records
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
