Introduction

The Security Operations Section is hiring an IT Security Analyst! The DET is looking for a hands-on technical analyst who specializes in cyber security incident management. This position is critical to the Enterprise, ensuring incidents are properly handled in accordance with best security practices. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin. This position will have the option of working remotely upon agreement of the supervisor but may be asked to come into the office periodically. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Security Operations Supervisor, this position functions as a technical analyst in cyber security incident management for the enterprise ensuring incidents are properly identified, analyzed, communicated, actioned / defended, investigated and reported. This position is responsible for :

  • Gaining situational awareness through continuous monitoring of networks and other IT assets for signs of attack, anomalies, and inappropriate activities
  • Determining the cause, scope, and impact of incidents to stop unwanted activity, limit damage, and prevent recurrence
  • Continuously identifying and remediating vulnerabilities before they can be exploited
  • Separating and controlling access to different networks with different threat levels and sets of users to reduce the number of successful attacks
  • Protecting information on computers that routinely interact with untrusted devices on the internet or may be prone to loss or theft

    Salary Information

    Starting salary for the IS Enterprise Technical Services Senior (07-34) be between $29.27- $45.41 hourly. A twelve-month probationary period may be required. Current State employees will be compensated in accordance with the current State Compensation Plan.

    Job Details

    Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct fingerprinting and / or background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.

    All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin. Certain positions within this Department may allow remote / work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

    Qualifications

    Minimally qualified candidates will have experience with ALL the following :

  • Providing IT Security support such as security best practices, threat hunting and intel, and triage security IT tickets, or similar.
  • Providing technical support for Microsoft applications including Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Additionally, well qualified applicants will have at least one of the following :

  • Experience with End Point Protection Next Gen
  • Experience with scripting.
  • Experience with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) Log
