The Wisconsin DNR Division of Wildlife Management is hiring an LTE (Limited Term Employee) Wildlife Management Communications Specialist at our Milwaukee Service Center in Milwaukee, WI.

Position Summary
The Wildlife Recreation Communications Specialist will work under the Wildlife Management Communications Specialist to produce public-facing products for the Bureau of Wildlife Management. The person in this position will work in collaboration with our Wildlife Management staff and the DNR Office of Communications to highlight:
- Wisconsin’s wildlife species
- The recreational opportunities associated with wildlife (e.g. hunting, trapping and wildlife viewing)
- The contributions and work of the Wildlife Management Program
Position responsibilities include developing marketing and communications plans, writing press releases, crafting social media content, taking photos of wildlife and the work we do, and collaborating with staff on public-facing hand-outs.
40% - Work with Wildlife Management staff (and other department staff as needed) to develop
content about Wisconsin’s wildlife species and wildlife recreation, predominately hunting and trapping. This includes developing press releases, newsletters, social media content and other appropriate communications products.
25% - Facilitate the review and approval of our communications products.
10% - Collect data on the performance of our communications products and work with the team lead to adjust our strategy when needed.
10% - Work with staff specialists to review and update the agency’s wildlife webpages.
10% - Produce technical reports, talking points and other materials for staff as needed.
5% - Accompany staff in the field and take photos and videos of Wisconsin's wildlife species and the hard work our staff are doing to manage these species and associated habitats.
Salary Information
This position pays between $18.00-23.72 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 07-05. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

4) Allow individuals to hold multiple LTE appointments concurrently. If both LTE positions are at the same agency, the positions must be bona fide different positions. Each individual LTE position allows for maximum of 1039 hours in a twelve-month period.
Special Requirements:
1) Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
A Wisconsin resident is a person who:
a. Has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier;
b. Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;
c. Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or
d. Is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c).” s.230.03(12), Wis. Stats.

Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications below, the selected candidate must be eligible to drive a state vehicle and meet the following criteria:
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a minimum of two years licensed driving experience
- Have not had three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years
- Have no OWI/DUI violations within the past year
Required:
- Experience in drafting communications for multiple platforms (e.g., social media, web or email)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of or experience in the communications field is strongly desired, with a preference for experience in science or wildlife communication
- Knowledge of or experience with diverse forms of outdoor recreation, especially hunting or trapping.
- Experience managing multiple projects with varying deadlines
- Knowledge of or experience using Associated Press (AP) writing style
